Governor Murphy struck an optimistic tone in his State of the State earlier today. Jersey Renews appreciates the governor for highlighting the importance of sensible policy and the need to develop an economic engine to ensure that New Jersey is a good place to do business for the renewable energy industry.

The Governor underscored New Jersey’s wins – the commitment to transition to renewable energy and backing that up with concrete action on offshore wind. Having recently closed the first solicitation for the country’s most ambitious offshore wind project, New Jersey looks poised to become the nation’s leader in offshore wind.

New Jersey is facing many tough challenges. Climate change continues to be a threat to our many miles of coastline. For many years corporations were the beneficiaries of unnecessary tax breaks while schools struggled to update their building and water systems, infrastructure projects went unfunded, and our transportation system fell apart. Jersey Renews appreciates the Governor’s commitment to improving the state of our state and looks forward to working with and challenging the administration to make New Jersey more equitable for all.
